Engineer Bio

Phillips Sound is the enumeration of studio and musical work of Tim Phillips. Tim began his career on the guitar, kindling a deep interest in the recording arts and artistic writing process. Beginning in middle school his guitar studies expanded into music theory and audio recording. And it was this continued passion that led him, in 2007, to attend the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. As member of the graduating class of 2011, Tim explored the writing, producing, and engineering process as he earned his degree in Contemporary Writing and Production. Before graduation Tim was able to apply and sharpen his skills as he worked relentlessly with Massachusetts based bands, recording and engineering many projects prior to receiving his degree.

After graduating in 2011, Tim accepted an engineering position at BK Studio in Saugus, MA, where he studied under the experienced guidance of gifted producer Bobby Keyes (Guitarist, Writer, Producer, Engineer). After having the opportunity to work with some of Boston’s top musicians at BK Studio, Tim shifted his focus to open his own studio in Rowley, MA.

In the years that followed Tim has continued to record and produce some of the top rising talent in the North Shore of MA and NH, including engineering tracks for Robin Thicke, and engineering the whole body of work for New England bands, such as Cold Engines, Soul Rebel Project, and others.

Now located in the heart of New York City, Phillips Sound continues to evolve with the rapidly changing needs of bands, songwriters, and musicians. His passion for making great sounding records continues to lead his work as Phillips Sound grows in New York.
